After eight months, Mason Mount returns to Chelsea

After eight months, Mason Mount returns to Chelsea.

One of Chelsea’s homegrown players, Mason Mount, will make his Stamford Bridge debut after departing from his boyhood club in the summer transfer window of 2023.

On Thursday, April 4, 2024, Manchester United will play the Blues in a match that is very important to both clubs, and he will be wearing the red of that team instead of the blue of Chelsea. Mount’s goal for United is to have an influence and assist the team in earning as many points as possible in order to place in the top four at the conclusion of the 2024–2025 campaign.

Despite Mount’s repeated agreements to a new contract, the parties were unable to agree on a transfer fee, and Mount left Chelsea rather amicably.

Why did Mount leave Chelsea?

When asked about why he left Chelsea, the midfielder explained that it was a difficult decision, but he felt that joining Manchester United would provide the challenge he needed for the next phase of his football career.

He said:

“Leaving your hometown team is never easy, but Manchester United will offer a thrilling new challenge for the next stage of my career. I’m excited to join this group’s pursuit of major trophies because I’ve competed against them and I know how great of a squad I’m joining”.

If Erik Ten Hag chooses to start Mount against Chelsea, United supporters will be hoping that he scores a goal.
